All About Goat Milk Mud Masks

General Information:

Our mud masks come in a dry powder form in a 4 ounce jar; which makes approximately 8-12 masks depending on how much you use each time. Why the powder form instead of a ready-made wet mask like you’d buy from the store? This not only allows for the masks to have an extremely long shelf life, but also allows for a uniquely customizable experience! Keep reading to find out how to tailor these masks to your preferences!

What’s in a mud mask?

Base ingredients for all of our masks are clay, goat milk, and arrowroot. The clay makes the mud, while the goat milk and arrowroot contribute hydration, gentle exfoliation, and anti-inflammatory properties. The other additives provide different colors, scents, and additional beneficial properties!

How to use a mud mask:

  1. Mix 1 tablespoon of mud mask powder with 1/2 tablespoon of water. Stir until fully mixed. This is a good ratio to start off with to see how you like the consistency and if the amount made was enough for your liking. You can adjust this ratio however you like to fit your needs in the future.

  2. Apply to a clean face, avoiding the eyes, mouth, and eyebrows.

  3. Allow to dry for 5-10 minutes. A tightening and warm, tingling sensation are normal.

  4. Rinse with warm water and a washcloth to remove. Slight redness from scrubbing off the mask is normal.

  5. Moisturize lightly and enjoy your refreshed skin!

  6. Use no more than 1-2 times per week.

What else can be added to a mud mask?

What you use to hydrate your mud mask will provide a unique scent and set of beneficial properties. How much liquid you add will determine the mask’s consistency. It truly can be a completely personalized experience and may take trying several different combinations to find what feels best for your skin! Here are some recommended hydration options to try:

  • This is the most basic and easily accessible option. Starting with water will give you a good idea of how the mask feels and smells by itself.

  • These are also known as “flower waters”. They are a similar consistency to water and have similar properties to essential oils with more subtle scents.

  • This is a great option for a medium thickening consistency and provides deep cleansing and moisturization.

  • Similar in consistency to yogurt, but will help ease red, irritated, and dry skin.

  • This has the thickest consistency of these options, and it is known to reduce breakouts while gently moisturizing the skin.
